Waxing is a quick, affordable, and convenient way to get rid of your unwanted hair for up to 4 weeks.
The benefit of waxing, followed by the proper aftercare, will help your hair grow in slower, softer, and finer with less skin irritation and ingrown hairs that every day shaving would cause.
Waxing acts as an exfoliant by removing a layer of dead skin cells and leaving the skin feeling smoother and looking healthier. Waxing helps prevent the unwanted razor bumps, burns and cuts.
Before your appointment
Hair Growth - please allow up to 3 weeks of hair growth before your appointment. Ideally, you should have 1/4 inch (size of a grain of rice) of hair in the area you want to wax.
Pain Reliever - if you're sensitive to pain, take an ibuprofen-based pill at least 30 minutes before your appointment. This will help reduce pain and inflammation.
Caffeine, Alcohol, Marijuana - please refrain from caffeine, alcohol and marijuana before your appointment. These are stimulants and will increase the sensitivity and pain.
Menstrual Cycles - your menstrual cycle does not prevent you from getting waxed! Please ensure you have a tampon or menstrual cup in for your waxing appointment. You'll also want to make sure you change your tampon or clean out your cup right before your appointment to minimize the risk or worry of period leaks. Note: your skin will be more sensitive a week before and the week of your period.
Pregnancy - waxing while pregnant is totally possible and harmless. Be sure to let me know you are expecting when booking your appointment. You'll feel a lot more sensitive during this time due to you blood vessels being a bit more dilated than usual. Rest assured its perfectly safe to wax.
Exfoliating - one day before your appointment, exfoliate in the shower to remove dead skin and lift trapped hair. Exfoliating will reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs after the appointment. Do not exfoliate the same day you plan to wax.
Moisturizing - after you exfoliate it is very important to apply a moisturizer. This will keep your skin hydrated and nourished until the day of your appointment.
Hydrating - Water keeps your body hydrated and refreshed and helps maintain your skin's elasticity.
Special Occasion - if it is your first time waxing, please plan on booking an appointment at least 4 weeks prior to your special occasion to ensure your skin reacts properly. Be mindful that your skin may react differently to waxing over shaving. Your skin may experience redness, bruising, or irritation.
Clothing - after your skin has been waxed, you'll want loose and comfortable clothing to avoid skin irritation.
After your appointment
24 hours after your wax - I recommend no swimming, hot tubs, baths, working out, and long periods of sun exposure or tanning beds. Your pores are open and more susceptible to bacteria.
Exfoliating - I recommend to start exfoliating two days after your appointment and then approximately every other day. Please ask about my recommended products to help reduce ingrown hairs.
Moisturizing - I recommend moisturizing every night prior to going to bed to ensure full absorption into your skin. Your skin repairs itself 30% more while you are asleep. Please ask about my recommended products to help hydrate and moisturize your skin.
Consistency - I recommend consistently waxing. This will help your hair grow in slower, softer, and finer with less skin irritation and ingrown hairs. The more consistent you are, the lass painful waxing will be!
Shaving - Do not shave in between waxing appointments! It is crucial to have all your hair on the same growth cycle for a consistently clean wax.
